Charles Byrd

Charles William Byrd, a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandfather passed away on June 8th, 2025 at the age of 82 in Roseburg, Oregon.

Charles was born in Bakersfield, California on August 13, 1942 to parents Bill and Dorothy Byrd. He had two younger sisters- Carol and Annette. Charles graduated from Arvin High School in 1960. On August 31st, 1961 Charles married his wife Madelynne. They celebrated 63 years of marriage and had two children together. He made his career in the banking industry for more than four decades at Community First Bank and Taft National Bank. He began as a teller and ended by becoming bank president.

He spent a majority of his years in Lamont and Bakersfield, California where he enjoyed leatherwork, fishing, team roping, being a 4-H leader, and volunteering. Charles was involved in the church community his entire life, he served as a deacon and as a Sunday school teacher in various churches. Charles and Madelynne moved to Oregon eleven years ago to be with their children and grandchildren. Once in Oregon, they attended Pine Grove Community Church.

Charles is survived by his wife Madelynne, son and daughter-in-law Chris and Christina Byrd, son-in-law and daughter Quinton and Kristin Quisenberry, sister Annette Allen, and grandchildren William Byrd, Brandon Byrd, Quaid Quisenberry, and Brooklin Quisenberry.

A viewing will be held at Taylor's Family Chapel in Winston, Oregon on Friday June 20, 2025 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. A funeral service will be at Roseburg Memorial Gardens in Roseburg, Oregon on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00AM.
