Rita Ann Gilpatrick

April 13, 1946 — December 23, 2025

Rita Ann Gilpatrick went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Dec. 23, 2025, at her home in Roseburg, Oregon. She was born in Casa Grande, Arizona, to Charles and Christine Thompson on Feb. 13, 1946. She had two younger brothers Daniel Thompson and Charles "Larry" Thompson. She married David Burks and had two children Scott and Ginger. After her divorce, she moved to Oregon, and met and married Lester Gilpatrick who had also two children Trina and Kevin. They purchased a home in Roseburg, and raised their children together. They were married 49 1/2 years, until Lester's death in 2022.

Rita's passion was her family, making themed birthday cakes, sewing Easter dresses and square-dancing costumes, as well as attending sporting events. At times, this was quite challenging as she had four children in four different schools. She rose to the challenge with grace and unparalleled organizational skills.

Rita also had a heart for missions and enjoyed organizing gift boxes for the church's White Cross and Christmas child programs. She led a small group in the ladies Bible study, even mentoring younger women in her group. Every year she looked forward to attending women's retreat. Rita was a prayer warrior, and as a part of the church's prayer chain network, she would pray for God's mercy and intervention in all of life's trials and challenges for friends and family alike.

Rita worked as a medical transcriptionist her whole adult life. She worked for Mercy hospital for over 30 years, as well as having her own transcription business.

Rita is survived by her four children Scott, Trina, Kevin and Ginger, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial service for Rita will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Wellspring Bible Fellowship in Roseburg, Oregon.
